Kemer Scuba Diving: Cave Bays Below the Taurus Mountains
Kemer scuba diving takes place where the Taurus Mountains drop straight into the Mediterranean. The limestone that forms the peaks carries on below the surface as ledges, arches and small caves, while the coves between the headlands stay calm and clear. This mix of scenery and shelter is the reason our dive boat is based at Kemer Marina and why the bays south of the town are the starting point for most diving on the Antalya coast.

The underwater landscape off Kemer
Below the waterline the coast looks much like it does above: steep rock, split by cracks and overhangs. Divers follow ledges along the wall, look into crevices for octopus and moray eels, and pass under natural arches where the light shifts as the rock closes overhead. In the protected coves the seabed shelves gently, so an instructor can keep a beginner at a comfortable depth while experienced guests explore a little further.
Kemer dive sites
Kiriş Cave Bay
A sheltered bay with a rocky reef and a shallow cave entrance. The water is usually still in the morning, which makes it the right place for the first dive of the day: there is time to practise breathing, settle buoyancy and get used to the equipment.
Moonlight Bay
The afternoon site is a relaxed reef dive among boulders, sea grass and schools of small fish. Its colourful life and rock formations make it popular with guests who bring a camera.
Options for certified divers
- Paris wreck: a French steamship from the First World War, now covered in sponges and visited by fish.
- Three Islands: walls and swim-throughs between 10 and 30 m, with groupers and moray eels.
- Bring your certification card and logbook; the route depends on your level and the sea conditions.
